Hey, anon! I forgot to reply to this. I’m down to chop it up with anyone about my cultural experiences. If you’re curious, ask away!

I think I’m finally easing off of my tendency to overstock on clothing. I was reflecting on the pieces in my wardrobe and realized I actually use pieces of clothing for much longer than I used to. I can honestly say all of my jeans are over a year old. I busted a four year old pair. Most of them are around three years old. All those are Levi’s. I have a bunch of linen shirts that are five years old, from QuikSilver. I also have a couple of oxford shirts that are over three years old, from J. Crew. I actually use these pieces. I have two pairs of orthopedic Asics that have held up for a couple of years. Those are my beaters that I use for long days out or hiking. I also have that great pair of Clarks Desert Treks that still look and feel fairly new. All of the aforementioned pieces were great investments. None of the pieces were bought for MSRP and some of them were a steal. When I see the shit for MSRP, I shrink back. This may be normal for other dudes, but I didn’t expect to make mature choices in clothing until later in life. I recommend all the pieces from the brands I mentioned. You’ll get more than your money’s worth in the long run.

The newer half of my wardrobe is pretty obvious. Softer cotton goods have to be replaced more often. All my hoodies are new, as are a lot of my tees. The exception is my OG American Apparel tees. I bought a batch of stuff during the last season during which the shit was still made in Los Angeles. Those damn things are still good after three years. My underpants and socks are fairly new. That’s just a given. Speaking of which, I absolutely recommend sporty boxer briefs from PUMA and New Balance. I love Under Amour socks. I just bought wool socks by Woolrich. Those are crucial in this real winter.

Anyway, that ends my rant on pieces from my wardrobe I would recommend ‘cause they hold up well and feel great. I’ll recommend other pieces as I find out what newer things hold up over time. I wanted to write this because I’ve been lucky to find a lot of pieces that last well, which seems to be increasingly rare with the steady rise in popularity of fast fashion. I hope this helps someone find something good.

A person who can befriend people of any political ideology is someone to avoid.

And they’re so smug about it too. That just means you stand for nothing. That’s nothing to be proud of.

Can you please elaborate? I don’t understand how someones political ideology should influence my view of them as a person or change the fact of whether I enjoy someone’s company or not. Not trying to start shit I’m just genuinely curious how you came to this conclusion.

The same way morals and values determine who people associate themselves with. Political ideology is a huge reflection of this. I’m not sure how else to explain it.

I don’t have any counterarguments irl, but in the specific case of 4chan you can find some beautiful stuff if you manage to ignore all the idiots

No, you know what? Being smug about it is really weird, but it’s also harmful to take the other position. People only see black or white, and if you don’t make the effort to associate with people that disgust you you’re participating in the “us vs. them” mentality that makes any kind of political change impossible without one group of people repressing the rest

I don’t worry about befriending people who have vastly different political views. I can get along with them, definitely. I wouldn’t call those friendships. I can have positive political and ideological discourse with most people. I don’t bother putting my moderate-leftist agenda down anyone’s throat. If they ask about it, we can talk all damn day. We don’t have to be friends to have a productive debate.
